A recente promessa de Donald Trump de eliminar ideologias consideradas “impróprias” da história e dos museus de arte representa uma ameaça grave à memória coletiva da humanidade. Em um mundo onde o passado é constantemente reexaminado para entendermos melhor nosso presente e moldarmos um futuro mais justo, qualquer tentativa de censurar ou reescrever a história deve ser encarada com extrema preocupação.

Manter registros históricos fiéis e acessíveis não é apenas um direito, mas uma necessidade para evitar a repetição dos erros e horrores que marcaram a trajetória da humanidade. Ditadores e regimes totalitários ao longo da história têm usado a manipulação da informação como uma ferramenta poderosa para controlar narrativas e apagar eventos inconvenientes. O revisionismo ideológico movido por interesses políticos e econômicos compromete a verdade e impede que novas gerações aprendam com o passado.

Museus e instituições culturais são guardiões da memória, espaços que permitem que as sociedades confrontem seus triunfos e suas falhas. A remoção de artefatos, documentos e obras de arte sob o pretexto de expurgar ideologias “erradas” não é apenas um ataque ao conhecimento, mas uma tentativa de moldar a realidade de acordo com interesses específicos. Isso cria um terreno fértil para a desinformação, alimentando narrativas falsas que servem apenas àqueles que detêm poder e influência.

Além disso, a busca por uma “realidade alternativa” construída sobre a negação de fatos históricos representa uma ameaça concreta à democracia e à liberdade de pensamento. A história nos ensina que sociedades que tentam sufocar a verdade e silenciar vozes divergentes acabam mergulhadas em ciclos de intolerância, repressão e violência.

O combate à censura e à distorção histórica não pode ser responsabilidade apenas de acadêmicos e historiadores. Todos nós devemos defender a preservação da verdade, exigir transparência e valorizar a pluralidade de narrativas que compõem nossa herança cultural. A arte e a história pertencem a todos, e não devem ser moldadas de acordo com a vontade de um grupo que busca poder e dominação.

Se permitirmos que a história seja apagada ou reescrita ao bel-prazer de interesses políticos, estaremos abrindo caminho para um futuro construído sobre ignorância e engano. E, nesse cenário, os erros do passado não apenas se repetirão, mas poderão ser ainda mais devastadores.
